1-THE SHIRT

This is the footballer’s tunic, the one that allows him to embody the club he plays for and to have his name written in capital letters. Whether he wets it, kisses it, or throws it on the ground, the footballer’s shirt is that second skin that he never really leaves.

Firstly, it is light, so that you don’t feel the constant weight on your shoulders, whether you are a goalkeeper or a striker. Secondly, it’s breathable, so that your body and shirt can breathe, especially if you tend to get it wet on the pitch. Finally, resistance, to face the most severe draws and not leave a hole for your opponents. Despite everything, and you know it, the best jersey will remain the one that colors your life, fills you with passion, and makes you fall in love at the slightest opportunity: your club’s.

2-THE BOOTS

Because it dresses the footballer’s foot, the shoe is undoubtedly the accessory with the noblest role. If the player is a conductor who makes the ball dance, the cleats are undoubtedly the baton that allows him to lead his music to the applause.

They depend mainly on the pitch you are playing on:
Spikes that are screwed on wet or muddy pitches so that they only slip when tackling.
Molded studs on dry or synthetic pitches so that you stay on your feet but not on the ground
Turf cleats on 5-a-side football pitches for optimal ball handling. This is essential, given that the ball ends up in your feet every 6 seconds…
The most important thing for shoes is also the choice of color, even if it means going for flashy fluorescent colors: to each his style; the main thing is not to lose the ball.

3-THE BALL

The real star of a match, the one that nobody takes their eyes off, from the player to the fan. Hence the importance of making it pleasant to the touch and visually attractive. A double challenge for manufacturers, which sometimes turns into a controversy during certain major competitions. Finally, let’s not forget the adage that technique in football is 50% talent and 50% ball.

You need to find the right balance. Too light and the ball will fly over the pitch, or even the stadium, and have a floating effect – a goalkeeper’s nightmare. Too heavy and you’ll struggle to lift it, unlike your coach on the bench, who is furious at the lack of conviction in your shots. Also take into account external parameters such as a leather ball on hard, dry pitches; a colored ball on snowy pitches; or a ball in the stands around the pitch…

4-GLOVES

Let’s not forget that in every football match, two players play mainly with their hands. As such, their equipment differs significantly from that of their outfield partners. If all (or almost all) extravagances are allowed concerning their jerseys, the gloves of the goalkeepers are the object of particular attention. The composition of the last line of defense often makes the difference.

Unsurprisingly, it’s already the one you can put on. The right size before the right style! Then there are several criteria:

The cut: a thin glove favors flexibility. A wider one, the grip. It’s up to you to decide according to your style… and your opponent,
The relief: soft in the palm for a good grip. Doubled on the back to protect your fingers. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside: velvet hands in an iron glove.
Wrist support: like the game, some like it short and others long. The important thing is that you keep it under control!

5-OTHER ACCESSORIES
Shin guards: Nothing forces you to wear them. But remember that having them on your feet for 90 minutes is less disabling than a cast for 3 months…

The armband: Reserved for one player on the pitch: the captain. Do you have the soul of a leader of men?

Tights or leggings: In winter everything goes down: temperatures, motivation… and the level of style. But it doesn’t matter, the main thing is to play well, not to participate in a fashion show!
